In a virtual conference held on Thursday, November 21, Dr. Félix Santiago-Collazo and students from the Compound Inundation Team for Resilient Applications (CITRA) discussed compound hazards to water security and their cascading effects.
The conference, titled Navigating the Complexities of Compound, Multihazard, and Cascading Events Impacts on Water Security, was held by the United Nations Educational Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Chair on Sustainable Water Security and Florida International University’s Institute of Environment.
Dr. Santiago and students Orlando Viloria and Luciana Iannone Tarcha moderated and reported on talks about compound events and cascading effects, offering their expertise on what compound flood risks are and how they impact communities. Learn more about CITRA’s work here.
