Shana Jones, J.D., manages the Planning & Environmental Services Unit at the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia. She works in close partnership with Georgia Sea Grant on coastal flooding issues, adaptation planning, and hazard mitigation and manages the Georgia Sea Grant Law Program. Ms. Jones’ experience includes developing robust legal and policy guidance for local governments related to environmental, land use, and utility-related issues. Prior to joining the University of Georgia, Ms. Jones was the Director of the Virginia Coastal Policy Clinic at William & Mary Law School, which she founded in 2012. She is the co-author of The Case for Grassroots Collaboration: Social Capital and Ecosystem Restoration at the Local Level and contributes annually to the law treatise, Waters and Water Rights.
