Associate Research Scientist, College of Engineering
Dr. Lynn Abdouni is an Associate Research Scientist in the College of Engineering at the University of Georgia. Coming from a multi-scalar design background, she holds a BFA in Graphic Design from the American University of Beirut, an MA in Landscape Design and Development from Chatham University, and a PhD in Environmental Design and Planning from the University of Georgia. Her primary goal is to create useful and aesthetic maps to inform strategic decision-making. Her research emphasizes crafting geospatial frameworks for infrastructure planning and urban design, operating at the intersection of civil and environmental engineering. Prior to joining IRIS, Lynn held several design positions in Lebanon and the United States. She began developing her geospatial analysis skills through her role as a community gardens coordinator at the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, and later through the doctoral program at the College of Environment and Design (CED) and the NASA DEVELOP program in Athens. Her teaching approach is rooted in studio culture and the importance of iteration and incremental development. She currently teaches courses on sustainable buildings and infrastructure, and as previously taught at CED and the School of Architecture at Clemson University.
When Lynn is not wandering in the deep in the abyss of map-making, she is either baking, planting, or sketching.
