A collaboration between Dr. Shepherd Marshall, Dr. Don Nelson, and Dr. Brian Bledsoe, three IRIS researchers with wildly varying titles (respectively, climate scientist, anthropologist and ecological engineer) was recently published in the scientific journal, Anthropocene.
The paper, “From Hubris to Humility: Transcending Original Sin in Managing Hydroclimatic Risk,” characterizes the rapidly changing risks that humanity faces from global climate change, and makes the argument for a new perspective on overcoming humanity’s biggest obstacles: approaching the natural world with humility, instead of hubris.
