Summary of the 2023 Georgia Resilience Roundtable

The University of Georgia Institute for Resilient Infrastructure Systems (UGA IRIS), with support from The Pew Charitable Trusts, held a Georgia Resilience Roundtable at the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) in Atlanta, Georgia on December 15, 2023. IRIS and ARC gathered stakeholders from across Georgia (over 60 attendees) who are currently engaged or interested in issues related to near and long-term impacts of climate-related disasters. The primary objective of the Roundtable was for participants to leave with a high-level overview of current and projected risks and vulnerabilities, current activities and example best practices to reduce risk, and a mutual understanding of needed actions and next steps to comprehensively address resilience in Georgia statewide. Participants workshopped policy, planning, and implementation mechanisms to build community and natural system resilience statewide.

The document below presents a short overview of discussions, questions and opportunities that arose from the day-long roundtable.
