Susana Ferreira is a Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics at the University of Georgia. She earned her PhD and MA in Economics from the University of California, San Diego, and her BSc in Business from Universidad de Navarra in Spain.  Dr. Ferreira’s research and teaching are motivated by the interactions between the economy, health, and the environment, and span the areas of Environmental, Natural Resource, and Development Economics. Dr. Ferreira wants to understand the economic causes of environmental change and its consequences on human wellbeing. She is particularly interested in the economic valuation of environmental services and externalities that are not priced through markets. She has conducted extensive research on the quantification of the contribution of ecosystem services, natural amenities, and environmental risks to human welfare.
