Senior Resilience Engineer

Zak is a Senior Resilience Engineer for IRIS. Zak holds a B.S. in Environmental and Ecological Engineering at Purdue University (2017). Prior to joining IRIS in 2024, he spent 7 years working as a consultant, where he served as lead design engineer and project manager on a wide variety of municipal projects. During his time in the private sector, Zak worked with local governments, community partners, and stakeholders to help solve both day-to-day and large-scale challenges, often attributed to aging infrastructure, growing population, quality of life, and climate change. His experience includes urban and rural hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stormwater/wastewater studies and master plans, asset management, various field testing and data collection, construction inspection, permitting, and infrastructure design. His design resume consists of an array of commercial and municipal site/civil projects, parks, stormwater conveyance and management systems, multi-use trails, sanitary sewer interceptors, and drinking water distribution systems. During his free time, Zak can be found mountain biking, fishing, or hiking.
