Coming Fall 2026: The Nature-based Solutions: Planning, Design & Construction Short Course

Join us September 15 – October 15, 2026 for a virtual course that will meet live twice a week to provide over 30 hours of instruction and facilitated discussion with experts and practitioners from the University of Georgia and across the country.

Led by Dr. Todd Bridges and Dr. Ram Mohan, the course will include a balance of:

  • Coastal, river, and inland applications
  • Hazard contexts related to flooding, drought, heat, wildfire, water quality, and more
  • Integrating NbS and conventional engineering for a range of infrastructure purposes  
  • Planning, design, and construction
  • Benefit-Cost Analysis
  • Regulatory evaluation
  • And more…

Nature based solutions (NBS) are a rapidly growing form of infrastructure that incorporates natural and conventional solutions to create more resilient communities, businesses and ecosystems. The University of Georgia’s Institute for Resilient Infrastructure Systems is one of the nation’s leaders in natural infrastructure.

Session Dates

The short course will provide 30 hours of instructional content presented across a series of sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays in September and October 2026:

September 15, 17, 22, 24 and 29 from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. EST

October 1, 6, 8, 13 and 15 from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. EST

Registration includes over 30 hours of content and professional development hours. Participants will receive access to recordings of all content for a limited time following the conclusion of the course and will count towards professional development credit in the event of a live webinar absence.
